Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary
Sigma has released their new lens ’28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary’ for mirrorless cameras. It currently supports E-mount (Sony) and L-mount (Leica and Panasonic). Sigma has previously released a 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art for mirrorless also. Despite being a killer, 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art is heavy and bulky. That is why Sigma has given us a more compact and lightweight option.
To compare the weight difference, the E-mount variant of 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary weighs 470g while its counterpart in 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art weighs 830g. Sigma says that the design of the 28-70mm Contemporary lens is based on the 24-70mm Art, but there has to be a trade-off with the image quality for sure. But since it is Sigma, we can definitely expect an optimal balance between the performance and the size in the new 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary.
